Washing and care of linen products

Linen is a natural material that becomes more beautiful and softer with each wash — if you treat it correctly. Follow our guide below to ensure your Lucevii products last for many years.

🧺 Before first wash

Soak the product in cold water for approximately 24 hours before first use. This will straighten the fibers and ensure high absorbency from the start. Then wash at a maximum of 40°C.

🌡️ Temperature and program

  • Daily wash: 40°C on a delicate cycle — this significantly extends the product's lifespan.
  • For stains: Up to 60°C is possible, but use 40°C as a starting point.
  • Avoid: Washing above 60°C — this can cause shrinkage and damage the fibers.

🧴 Detergent

  • Use neutral or mild detergents without bleach.
  • Avoid fabric softener — it coats the fibers and reduces linen's natural properties.
  • Wash by color to prevent discoloration.

💧 Preparation and machine

  • Unfold the product completely before washing.
  • Avoid overloading the machine — linen products need space for the best results.
  • Wash linen products separately from other materials.

🌬️ Drying

  • Line drying is recommended — gently stretch the item immediately after washing.
  • Tumble dryer: Only on low heat and only until damp. Over-drying damages the fibers and can cause shrinkage.

🔥 Ironing

If a smooth and shiny look is desired, ironing is recommended. Linen tolerates heat well, and ironing provides a beautiful, polished result.

📏 Shrinkage

All Lucevii products are pre-washed and will shrink a maximum of 3% or less when washing instructions are followed correctly. Washing at 60°C or higher may cause increased shrinkage.

🫧 Stain removal

The quicker you act, the better. Treat stains immediately while they are fresh.

General stains

  • Rinse immediately with cold water — never hot, as it sets the stain.
  • Apply a small amount of liquid dish soap directly to the stain and rub gently with your fingers.
  • Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and rinse with cold water.
  • Then wash normally at 40°C.

Grease stains (food, oil)

  • Sprinkle baking soda on the stain and let it draw out the grease for 15-30 minutes.
  • Brush off the baking soda and treat with dish soap.
  • Wash at 40°C.

Red wine and coffee

  • Rinse immediately with cold water.
  • Pour sparkling water or cold water directly onto the stain.
  • Treat with a little dish soap and wash at 40°C.

Blood

  • Always use cold water — hot water permanently sets blood stains.
  • Rinse with plenty of cold water and treat with a little dish soap or hydrogen peroxide (3%).
